Dallas Streetcar Ride to Cost $1 Starting July 27

Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) will begin charging a Dallas Streetcar fare of $1 per ride beginning Monday, July 27.

The fare, requested by the City of Dallas, will be implemented into DART's current payment collection system and fare structure to be used towards operations and maintenance.

Owned by the city, but operated by DART, the streetcar's 2.45-mile route features six stops between the historic Bishop Arts District and EBJ Union Station, 20-minute daily service 5:30 a.m. to midnight, and connections to DART and TRE plus Methodist Dallas Medical Center.

The $1 one-way fare is included with any valid DART pass or can be purchased with DART's contactless payment options which include the GoPass app and GoPass Tap Card. There will be no cash fare option onboard and no ticket vending machines located at the stops.

In December 2010, the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) awarded a $23 million Transportation Investment Generating Economic Recovery (TIGER) grant to build the streetcar.

Construction began in May 2013 and opened for service free of any fare on April 13, 2015. DART and the City of Dallas opened the second phase of services to the Bishop Arts District on Aug. 27, 2016.
